Helping a child get there on their own

Short, daily practice beats long sessions. Let them drag the hands and be wrong — the app always explains the answer instead of just scoring it.

  1. 1. O'clock times

Start with the short hand only. When the long hand points straight up, the short hand names the hour.

  2. 2. :30 times

Long hand straight down means 30 minutes. Read the hour first, then say the minutes: 4:30.

  3. 3. :15 and :45

Long hand on the 3 is :15, on the 9 is :45. Always hour first, then minutes.

  4. 4. Counting by fives

Skip counting around the face turns the numbers 1–12 into 5–60. The small blue numbers on our clock help.

  5. 5. To the minute

Only once fives are automatic. Switch the Learn page to 'Every minute' mode.

Everyday practice

  • Ask "what time do we leave?" and let them set the clock on the Learn page.
  • Say the time hour-first, the digital way: "four thirty" for 4:30.
  • Keep an analog clock somewhere they look every day.

🎤 Cheer them on in your own voice

Record a short "Well done!" or "You did it, superstar!" — when your child answers a clock correctly, they'll hear you cheering. Recordings stay on this device only.
